The Detroit Revolution sent three teams to the Rochester Hills Nationals Tune Up Tournament, and 2 of them came back with first place finishes in their respective divisons!
Detroit Revolution Bronze
After a hard fought round robin in the combined bronze/silver division, the Revolution would take a 3-2 loss to The Czech Republic in their second round robin game. After closing out the day, the revolution would participate in the Bronze Divsion playoffs and would never look back. Newcomer Bobby Rosul would be a welcome addition to the weekend, along with members of the AIHL Minor Detroit Revolution. The Revolution would take home the championship in the Bronze Division.
Detroit Revolution Aluminum
The newly formed Aluminum team pitted 4 newcomes to the new tournament world: Robert Anderson, David Fouladbash, Corey Gott and Jim Trbovich. The Aluminum squad was also with LCRH members Tyler True, Andy Kattula and Marc Albo. The Aluminum Squad played very well in the round robin, finishing with a overall 2-1 record going into playoffs. The only loss in round robin would end up being to the champions of the Aluminum division in this tournament. The Revolution would add Justin Hage to the roster for the semifinal game, in which he would have 6 goals in the game, however it was not enough as former DREV Minor AA player Kyle Gorchevicz would end the tournament for DREV Aluminum with 15 seconds remaining in regulation.
Detroit Revolution Iron
The "throw together" team of the weekend would pit Joey Burek, Steve Racine, Nathan Pettibone, Tim Brubaker, Michael Roehrig, Dan Fahlquist, and Tyler Kolly for the tournament. Michigan Inline Hockey Association goaltender Brent Vansteenkist from the DREV Lansing Hellhounds would join the squad for the weekend in goal, proving to be a very enertaining feat. The DREV Iron team would go undefeated in all of their games, capturing the Iron championship.
Also from Joe Dumars Fieldhouse, The Tour Bordercats Organization would win the Adult Silver Division, and also capture the $1000 cash prize in the Adult Gold division. This effectively meant that 4 of the 5 divisions were won by Little Caesars Roller Hockey teams.
Look for the Detroit Revolution to participate in the August Rochester Tournament, where the battle for champions happens again!
